molybdenum is a refractory metal belonging to the transition elements with a a body-centered cubic lattice, has a high strength of interatomic bonding, a high melting point of 2620°C.

Molybdenum is resistant to acids, alkalis, and resistant to many molten metals and liquid glasses. It is used as a tool for high-temperature furnaces, growing artificial sapphires, reducing metal oxides, as heaters for melting glass, applying PVD coatings, etc.
